Yarram
Yarram is a lovely town in the Gippsland/Wilsons Prom region of Victoria with an excellent range of pet friendly accommodation available.
With a population of approximately 2,200 people, Yarram is the regional centre of a thriving farming district .
Yarram is located about an hour from Wilsons Promontory. Nearby towns include Welshpool, Alberton, and Foster, with the larger regional centres of Sale and Traralgon less than an hour away.
Yarram is close to the popular Ninety Mile Beach and the beautiful coastal village of Port Albert is just 10 minutes drive away. Tarra Valley and Tarra-Bulga National Park are just a 20 minutes drive and the well known local bakery, which has won the Great Australian Meat Pie competition multiple times, is a popular place to dine.
Yarram has an Australian Rules football team competing in the North Gippsland Football League and is the home of several former AFL footballers, including Royce Vardy and Anthony Banik (Richmond Tigers), Andrew Dunkley (Sydney Swans), Nathan Vardy (Geelong) and Jed Lamb (Sydney Swans and GWS). VFL players in the late 1960's and early 1970's in Neil Chandler (3 Carlton premierships) and Laurie Rippon (Footscray) both live close to Yarram. But when talking footballers in Yarram the legendary Lynch is always mentioned. Billy junior, Peter, and Wayne were all brilliant footballers, and their father Bill senior played into his 50's. The Honour Board at the Yarram Football Club shows the 'Lynch' name many times.
Yarram is also well known for its annual eisteddfod every August which showcases Gippsland's artistic talents in music, speech and drama.
