Woods Point

Woods Point is a small town of around 100 residents in the High Country region in Victoria with a small range of pet friendly accommodation available.

Woods Point is located on the banks of the Goulburn River upper reaches.

Woods Point began as a general store which serviced the gold diggings around the recently discovered Morning Star Reef. Woods Point Post Office opened in 1862. By 1864, Woods Point had expanded and there were 36 Hotels in Woods Point.

From the 1870s to 1890s, mining activity declined, and the population of Woods Point reduced to roughly what it is today. The mining industry was revived in the 1890s, and the population grew once again, with four hotels servicing the town. Much of Woods Point had to be rebuilt following devastating bushfires in 1939.

Woods Point pet friendly accommodation is restricted to a pet friendly camping reserve, pet friendly cabins and pet friendly cottages and the pet related services other than the pet friendly accommodation choices in and around Woods Point include pet supplies and accessories, pet food outlets, vets, farriers, boarding kennels and catteries, horse riding opportunities, pet transport operators, horse dentists, and pet products.

Woods Point is a favourite spot for dirt bike riding and four wheel driving so if that is your interest, why not visit Woods Point and try one of the pet friendly accommodation venues for a weekend or a week or two.
