Swan Hill
Swan Hill is a beautiful town on the southern side of the Murray River in Victoria about 340 kilometres north west of Melbourne. With a population of approximately 11,000 permanent residents Swan Hill's major tourist attraction of Pioneer Settlement has drawn many tourists for a number of years now and pet friendly accommodation owners and managers have been kept busy from its popularity and the towns attractions and activities, the Murray River obviously being one of those.
Located on the Murray Valley Highway and just downstream from the junction of the Murray River with the Loddon River, Swan Hill has an average high temperature in the summer months of 32 degrees and 15 in the winter and was first discovered by Burke and Wills in 1860 when they set up camp at what is now known as Riverside Park.
Tourist Attractions and activities in Swan Hill other than Pioneer Settlement include the Murray Downs Golf Club, Farmers' Markets on the first Sunday of each month between July and December, the Mallee Almond Blossom Festival in August, the Great Murray River Salami Festival each October, the Swan Hill Art Gallery and the Horse Racing Track with it's 3-day carnival held every June, which features the Swan Hill Cup.
Pet friendly accommodation in and around Swan Hill includes pet friendly holiday homes, pet friendly bed and breakfasts, pet friendly caravan parks and pet friendly motels. Other than this pet friendly accommodation there are also a good range of pet services with pet food suppliers, pet and animal transport operators, pet friendly dining options, dog grooming and washing, pet minding and walking, pet breeders, pet insurance agents, boarding kennels and catteries, horse riding opportunities plus vets and farriers.
Swan Hill is a great place to visit so if you haven't been there it is recommended that you include Swan Hill on your next holiday calendar. The pet friendly accommodation venues are of a very high quality and awaiting your booking.
