Portarlington

Portarlington is a lovely coastal town on the Bellarine Peninsula just 28 kilometres from Geelong. Surrounded by olive groves and vineyards Portarlington boasts superb views across Port Phillip Bay to Victoria's capital city of Melbourne. The current population is approximately 3,800 people which has grown gradually since the first dwelling was bulit in 1850. There are a number of pet friendly accommodation venues to choose from with most being holiday homes.

Well known for excellent fishing, Portarlington includes a very popular pier where you can catch a ferry that heads to and from Melbourne on a regular basis. It is also popular with anglers. There are annual activities that attract visitors and some of these include being part of the Bay Cycling Classic early in the New Year, the Mussel Festival in mid January, the Portarlington Agricultural Show every March, the Portarlington Triathlon in late summer, the Celtic Festival which features folk music, dancing and cultural activities is held mid year and there is a market on the first Saturday of each month. There is also a carnival over the summer school holidays every year.
