Marysville

Marysville is a beautiful town in the Yarra Ranges of Victoria just under 100 kilometres from the State capital of Melbourne, about 30 kilometres north east of Healesville and 40 kilometres south of Alexandra in the Shire of Murrindindi. Pet friendly accommodation is mainly made up of pet friendly holiday homes and bed and breakfasts and there is a range of pet related services as well.

On February 7th, 2009 Marysville was devastated by the Black Saturday bushfires with 45 lives being lost and 90% of the town's buildings being completely destroyed. The population was approximately 500 prior to the fires but dropped considerably for a short time but now has recovered to be back where it began at 500.

Marysville relies heavily on tourism and prior to the Black Saturday fires there were 12 guest houses in town with the most popular being the Cumberland. Visitors always visit Steavenson Falls on the edge of the township and because of its proximity the Eildon Weir is also very popular.

In 2004 a telemovie starring Sigrid Thornton called 'Little Oberon' was filmed in and around Marysville and many of the cafes and restaurants, art galleries and craft shops were featured, but most are missing or been re-built today.

Pet friendly accommodation in Marysville consists of pet friendly holiday homes and bed and breakfasts and pet services include vets, horse riding opportunities, pet food supplies, pet and animal transport and pet friendly dining.

Marysville has recovered amazingly since the fires and a visit to see the re-build is highly recommended, and don't forget, Steavenson Falls and the Eildon Weir didn't get burnt out, they are still there for you to enjoy. Take a look through the pet friendly accommodation in the Marysville area and place your reservation today.
