Forbes

Forbes is a large town of about 9,000 population in the Central West region of New South Wales and is approximately 380 kilometres west of Sydney with a number of pet friendly accommodation venues and pet related services.

Located between West Wyalong and Parkes on the Newell Highway, the town is built on the banks of the Lachlan River and is the centre of a wheat and cropping area. There is also a lot of cattle and sheep grazing farms around Forbes.

The town itself has heritage listed buildings and sites and as events go, the annual Forbes Camel Races on Good Friday each year attracts a large number of visitors from all over Australia. This event is held at the Horse Racing Track. The average temperature in Forbes is just above 32 degrees in the summer months with an average high in winter of 14 degrees.

Some of the famous names to either be born or had their schooling in Forbes include former Australian Rugby League player and coach Chris Anderson, Olympic and Commonwealth Games record breaking shooter Phil Adams, Australian show jumping champion Dave Cameron, Carmel Tebbutt, former deputy Premier of New South Wales and Eve Langley who was a New Zealand famed novelist but born in Forbes.
