Barwon Heads

Barwon Heads is a lovely coastal town on the Bellarine Peninsula in Victoria and includes a number of pet friendly accommodation options. With a population of almost 4,000 residents and located on the western side of the Barwon River mouth Barwon Heads is probably best known at the moment as the place where the Australian television series SeaChange is filmed. The movie 'On the Beach' was also filmed there and is a based on a novel written by Nevil Shute. The town dates back to the late nineteenth century with the Post Office opening in 1889 and the Barwon Heads Golf Club is a heritage listed building. Originally the towns people were mainly professional fisherman but tourism has grown steadily to become the main industry in the town.

Nearby Thirteenth Beach is popular with surfers and fishing is still very popular. There is also an Australian Rules football team and Cricket Club which have been extremely successful over recent years and there are also other Clubs such as the Tennis Club, Bowls Club, Surf Life Saving Club, Soccer Club and of course the Barwon Heads Pony Club.
