Hamilton Island

Hamilton Island is the largest populated island of the Whitsundays in Queensland.

Approximately 900 kilometres north of Brisbane Hamilton Island is also the only island in the Great Barrier Reef with its own airport servicing flights from all over Australia.

Hamilton Island has a population of around 1300 people and is a popular tourist destination. In August each year Hamilton Island plays host to the Hamilton Island Race Week yachting festival, when yachts converge from all over Australia to Hamilton Island for a week of races.

Hamilton Island was purchased in 1975, and in 1978 construction of Hamilton Island Harbour commenced with the resort shortly after.

Hamilton Island is used almost exclusively for tourism with some people retiring there to enjoy the Hamilton Island beauty and relaxed lifestyle .

Day trips to the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park from Hamilton Island are available and are extremely popular.

Pet friendly accommodation on Hamilton Island is very limited with pet friendly resorts, pet friendly hotels, and pet friendly apartments being the only options.

Pet services include dog grooming and dog washing, vets, horse riding opportunities, pet friendly dining venues and pet insurance agents.
