Private and remote, Kilcowera is a great destination for a week away or as a stopover on your journey through Outback Queensland and is open to visitors from 1st April through to 31st October.

Pricing Information

$25 per vehicle to explore one day ( max 4 people, $5 per extra persons).

$25 per vehicle bush camp @ Lagoon ( max 4 people, $5 per extra persons) with no access to Shearers Quarters bathroom amenities.

$30 per vehicle bush camp @ Lagoon ( max 4 people, $5 per extra persons) with access to Shearers Quarters bathroom amenities.

$30 per vehicle unpowered site at Shearers Quarters ( max 4 people, $5 per extra persons).

$35 per vehicle powered site at Shearers Quarters ( max 4 people, $5 per extra persons).

$45 per person sleep in Shearers Quarters in either a twin share room or Queen size bed (all linen supplied and beds made up for you ).

Please note that we don't take credit cards or do Eftpos – payment can be made via cash, cheque or direct deposit.

Accommodation, meals, and guided tour packages are available on request. Camp oven meals are a specialty of ours for groups. Meals are available with advance bookings.

Description

Your accommodation is provided in our modern and comfortable Shearers Quarters which has 5 twin share rooms, 1 room with 3 single beds and 2 rooms with queen size beds (17 all up). All linen is supplied and beds are made up prior to your arrival. The Quarters are fully self contained with fridges, microwaves, gas stove with oven, electrical appliances, pots, plates, cups, wine glasses etc. Meals are available and must be booked in advance or guests can self cater. Camp oven meals are our specialty for groups of six or more guests..........Bathrooms are separate from the main building and only a one minute stroll from the Quarters.......... Campers and those travelling with their caravans or camper trailers have the choice of 2 camping areas while staying with us at Kilcowera. The grassy,landscaped campground at the Shearers Quarters has unpowered sites or we can provide power for you. Facilities include: showers, toilets, a laundry, fireplaces, tables, barbecues, wood and a basic camp kitchen.......... A short way from the quarters visitors can bush camp at Cardenyabba Lagoon at a series of private and secluded campsites along the waterfront. Facilities at the lagoon include: a long drop toilet, individual fireplaces with wood supplied, complimentary use of our kayak, direct water frontage and loads of Yabbies. Conventional vehicles are able to access this site.......... All guests are supplied with maps, directions, information on the property and a bird list upon arrival and personally shown to their accommodation or campsite. And don't forget your little four legged friends are welcome too!.........Tours..........Visiting an Outback cattle station wouldn’t be complete unless you do a tour or two of the property. Sit back and relax while Greg or Toni takes you on a guided tour or set off yourself on a self drive exploration of Kilcowera and see its diverse range of wildlife, land types and vegetation communities..........What to Do..........Visitors have the opportunity to view the many different ecosystems within our boundaries and to learn about our unique flora and fauna. Kilcowera is a bird-watchers' paradise with over 180 species found on the property. Many of the outbacks' other iconic animals are also easily seen where ever you look, including red kangaroos and eastern greys, emus, lizards and echidnas..........The vegetation is equally diverse, many of the shrubs and trees have been identified and signage attached to them so visitors can gain an appreciation of the many different varieties growing in the outback..........Yabbying, canoeing and swimming in the lagoon, dams or waterholes is a popular activity in the right season..........Take the opportunity to brush up on your photography skills or go birdwatching, bushwalking or cycling, try some camp oven cooking and maybe watch some seasonal station activities during your stay. It's hard to beat relaxing by your private campfire and watching the outback night sky.......... Kilcowera is ideally situated for day trips to the nearby village of Hungerford, Currawinya National Park and Thargomindah, the headquarters of the Bulloo Shire. Other nearby attractions include Bindegolly NP, opal mines at Yowah and Black Gate and the villages of Eulo, Toompine and Noccundra.
