FACILITIES..........•Ablution Block: Amenities are close to the cabins and central to sites. While basic in structure, they are kept clean at all times. Electric HWS backed up by a 'Donkey' (by fire) and it pays to check a tap for water temperature. In peak times, it is best to wait but the water heats very quickly with this extra outback method.....•Laundry: Gemtree has a laundry in the amenities block with coin operated machines @ $4 per load. Machines may fill slowly due to the bore water.....•General Store: Takeaway meals,basic grocery supplies and other relevant items are available for sale. Devonshire Tea (or coffee) and scones served on the verandah are available for morning or afternoon tea during peak season.....•Ice: Limited supplies for park guests.....•Fuel: Limited supplies of ULP and Diesel.....•Pay Phone: (We are out of moblie range) A 24hr payphone situated near Reception - takes cards only - available for sale at Reception....•Internet Access: Gemtree has limited Free Wireless Internet Access for the convenience of guests.The staff are happy to help you connect.....•Disabled toilet and shower.....•Effluent Dump: Please don't empty porta potties into our septic system - we have a dump especially for this purpose.....•Hours of Business: (Closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day)....•General Store: 8am-5pm daily for twelve months of the year.....•Caravan Park: Open all year - Reception 8am-5pm daily - * Managers live on the premises and there is a night bell should you arrive later than you expected. PLEASE RING AND BOOK because plans can then be made for your arrival.....................KATE'S CAMPOVEN KITCHEN - Winner of Central Australian Tourism Award for New Tourism Innovation 2010!...............Fast becoming one of Central Australia’s most popular dining experiences, the Campoven Kitchen at Gemtree is open four nights a week, numbers permitting. Bookings are essential as cooking with coals is a lengthy process!...........Dinners are a set menu of affordable outback dining accompanied by entertainment. When you ring to book your site, make sure you book a spot at dinner as well! Choose from the following dining options during your stay:.....Wednesday and Saturday evenings at 6:30pm: Have a ‘feed with the family.’ Campoven country roast dinners for just $20 - these include Kate’s guided tour of the campoven kitchen and are followed by a free history show...... Friday night at 6:30pm: Paddymelon Bowls and baked potatoes with toppings - $10.....Sunday Night at 6:30pm: Fish & Chips & Campfire Karaoke (a group singalong by the fire) $9 for one piece of fish, $15 for two pieces.....Dinners and Breakfasts delivered to your site: For those who want a quiet night in the van or a cooked breakfast for a special treat, we distribute an order form on your arrival. Select from the takeaway menu of food and/or drinks, and delivery will be made to your site on the quad bike!...............BILLABONG BAR............... The Billabong Bar at Gemtree is the perfect outback experience, and built at a perfect, ‘leaning height’, the Billabong Bar comes alive four nights a week...... In 2012 Gemtree Caravan Park was successful in gaining a liquor licence, available to park guests only. The Billabong Bar is a cash bar and as it is a licenced area, no BYO alcohol is permitted......Tables, chairs and fire buckets are provided to add to the ambiance of the campoven dinners and free evening entertainment. This alternates between Campfire Karaoke, Paddymelon Bowls and the most popular, a Family History show, telling the story of the Chalmers family settling on the Plenty Highway. Occasional night-time sporting matches can also be watched on the Big Screen from the Billabong Bar......Drinks can be purchased to take up to your own site - a maximum of six standard drinks or one bottle of wine per guest per evening.
